Cat6 cabling supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet as well, but only to 110 feet (normal) and possibly to 165 feet (on a case by case basis). Per ANSI/TIA 568 C.2, Cat6A ( link to our post) doubles the operating frequency of the cable from 250 MHz to 500 MHz and supports bandwidth on the order of 10X higher (10 Gigabit) than regular Cat6 all the way out to 100 meters. Of the three Ethernet cables profiled in our “Know your cable” series, Cat6A is the most flexible in its deployments because of its potential compatibility with future low-powered devices (PDs), such as next generation smart TVs, virtual assistants, LED smart lighting, smart video doorbells and thermostats. With the potential for better speeds and less crosstalk, Cat6A will take enterprise IT networks and homeowners through the next few technology refreshes with ease. Cat6A cables are ideal to pair with fiber optic cable installations because of greater bandwidth compatibility. Administrators often use Cat6A cables to reduce DC resistance and the resultant power loss while maintaining performance. What applications run on Cat6A Ethernet cables?Ĭat6A Ethernet cable is a forward-looking option for PoE devices with higher power demands, where thicker shielding, broader frequencies, and speed facilitate the data required for smart technologies without heating your cable and resulting in downtime. We’re weighing performance versus cost to help you identify your best investment for the near future. Knowing which cable to buy can save time and simplify your installation process. Porsche guys seem to prefer the Huber as do some on the Audi boards. Huber, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have that issue, or not that I've read about, so far. If you are doing your windshield, then you may want to do a search the 3M Crystalline has a alleged reputation for haziness/cloudiness on windshields that some people don't like. One advantage to Spectra Photosync is that it doesn't look much different than regular windshield glass (optical clarity). It's a very light tint, with extremely good specs for solar and heat holdout, from what I've been reading. They rave about it's use on windshields, just because of the "great" solar hold out. The Tesla guys (you know, the ones who spend a small fortune to save the planet) apparently are big fans of Spectra Photosync, which apparently has no metals, and will adjust itself to various wavelengths automatically. (The Crystalline 40 is 1% better.)īoth of these grades are currently listed on 3M's site, so the Ceramic Series should be available from any 3M installer. The CM30 has very similar specs and is likely (although I'm not sure how much) to be cheaper - it's the next grade down. You might want to consider, rather than Crystalline, 3M Ceramic Series. They do check if you've been stopped in Colorado, and it's an inspection item in Texas, not to mention it's too dark to really see well after dark. The color tinted ceramics, regardless of tint density, all have around the same solar holdout, which is the primary reason I'd go ceramic today (and will put it on the new windshield).Īs I recall, there's no advantage, beyond a certain point, in solar holdout, in tint density. You can get a clear with about a 30% reduction everything helps. In Texas, we're allowed a clear tint on the windshield, which is why I was researching solar hold out. I researched this some time ago, I'll see if I can pull up my notes. It's more expensive the primary attraction appears to be solar hold out, and that is a good thing. This tint was applied in 1999, still looks good.Ĭeramic is the new go-to. I have not noticed any GPS or cell phone interference, ever. It's perfect, and I wouldn't want any tint to be any darker. My E28 has 27% (Colorado limit) metal tint, in a neutral gray. In summation listen to the installer as long as they are over 30 and simply tell them you want to avoid the mirror type look. I don’t think the metallic stuff looks bad in fact it often looks very good but every now and then when the light is just right it does have a mirror look. your really trying to block the uva's while being able to drive in the dark. I couldn’t back up at night and I often found myself rolling down the window at night so I could see the left turns better. I put some dark black limo tint on the back windows and rear windshield and also went with darkest legally allowed by law on the front windows. The one time I did not take the advice of the installer I regretted it. I think the trick there is to make sure you are at a shop with a good long term reputation. I have usually allowed the installer to tell me what would look the best. I do believe that metallic does increase the reflective properties and give the tint more a glass mirror look from certain angles. Pre-faded? Like 80s jeans? I'm not even sure I want to ask about whatever it is that you have.īeing from Florida I have had many cars tinted except the hartge as it had some old tint already installed which eventually I peeled off the two front windows. Wkohler wrote:I have some gently used vintage tint available if that might interest you. I've had cars with tint, but never paid to have it done before this. I'm going to review my options at the shop with the installer before I do it, but I'd like to go in with a decent idea of what I want or at least be able to articulate my goals coherently. CT limit is 35% VLT, the shop offered 20% if I want it. I've read good things about "ceramic" and "hybrid" tints, but they seem pricey. GF uses her phone and GPS for work constantly. Does "metallic" = reflective when it comes to window tint? I've also read that metallic can mess with GPS and cell phone reception, which are problems I'd certainly need to avoid. Point of fact, I'd like to avoid that look entirely. The confusion starts because Onyx comes in metallic and non-metallic. He says Onyx is really the only choice for the Subaru since the charcoal won't match the factory color on the rear windows. The slightly less expensive option is "charcoal" which he says has a slight greenish tint to it. The guy recommends a color called "Onyx" which he says is "real black, like you see on limos". We've found a shop that comes very highly recommended, but I'm finding the offerings and options to be a bit overwhelming. My GF and I are looking to get the windows tinted on her Subaru Outback and my MINI Cooper. Additionally, from iRemind’s main window, you can also easily enable or disable any reminder in your list by checking or unchecking with a simple mouse click. Moreover, iRemind will help you to create recurring alerts, as well as notifications for events that should take place after a given period of time. I’m curious to see what the long time wear is on the die blades because I feel like with that kind of an investment I would want them to hold out for years worth of projects. My overall first impression with the Accuquilt Go! Cutter is that it is a sturdy, well made device. And the best part: all the little dog ears (triangle ends) are pre-clipped by the shape of the die, so no need to trim them later. (Remember I’m lazy.) By layering my printed fabric, alternating with a piece of solid white (6 layers total), I could cut enough fabric for 24 half square triangle blocks in one trip though the Go! cutter.īy alternating the layers of fabric, the solid and the prints are already paired up and ready to start chaining through my sewing machine. I love half square triangles and the myriad of projects you can do with them, but I don’t always love the process of making them. ( I have a fabric-scrap guilt complex.) Using this particular die I had very little waste and efficiently and quickly cut 15 accurate isosceles triangles from one 6 ½” (x width of fabric) strip.Īnother die I was eager to try was the 4″ finished half square triangle die. One of my concerns about using a fabric die cut device was the fabric waste. I’m so lazy.) The isosceles cutting die removed all excuses and within half an hour I whipped out enough triangles for a cute nursery banner. I’ve been wanting to make pennant banners for a long time now (like years) but the thing that has held me back was the just figuring out how to do it with my ruler and mat. My favorite part is that it quickly and accurately cuts shapes that would be much more difficult to cut with just a ruler and rotary cutter. The workflow of the software is more similar to Photoshop in that sense. You can open more than one image in Luminar but note that it is not meant to catalogue and sort your pictures like Adobe Lightroom. The history tab is a welcome addition to Macphun software. This means you will be able to access all the adjustments you made at any time by just opening the Luminar file. lmrn file and the history will be saved as well. You can save all the settings and layers applied to your photograph as a proprietary. A partial workaround as suggested in the comments is to use the opacity or blend mode settings. However Luminar doesn’t recognise transparency on a PNG or TIFF file when imported as an image layer. A work-around could have been to insert a separate png or other transparent file as an image layer before exporting the file. The only option that the export image window doesn’t have is the possibility to include a watermark. You can export the image in various formats, share it to a social network account or send it to another Macphun or third party app like Photoshop or Lightroom (for the last two you need to install the add-ons that come built-in with the software). In fact most of the images you see in this article were edited from RAW files using various mirrorless cameras. Layout with Histogram, Layers and Filters panelĪnother relevant point to highlight is that Luminar is compatible with RAW files, meaning it can act as a RAW developer software as well. This is where you activate the side panel that displays the histogram, layers and all the individual settings that in Luminar are called Filters (more on this in the next chapter). Overall the presets are a good starting point for beginners but as soon as you become more familiar with the software, you will want to have more control. Some of these presets are quite punchy and will give you strong vignetting, cross process, colour tint or monochrome effects while others are more subtle. More will be available to download from the Macphun website. You can choose from 50 different presets subdivided in different categories (outdoor, travel, street, portrait etc). Like Aurora, you can vary the intensity of the presets with the dedicated slider on the thumbnail. Similar to the ones you can find in Aurora HDR, presets give your image a distinctive look with just one click. This is where the Preset panel comes in handy. However you might want to post process your image quickly without dealing with individual settings. The interface above is pretty basic if you just want to do some cropping and don’t want to bother with more complicated actions involving masks and layers. On the right, you will find tools such as masks (paint, gradient and radial), transform, clone & stamp, erase, denoise and crop tools. The history tab is an excellent addition and one thing I miss from Aurora HDR. You can undo or redo the settings applied or display the history tab. With the top grey bar you can open or share a photo, zoom in or out, visualise the image at 100%, see a quick preview of the original image or compare it to the post-processed version. It is very straight-forward, elegant and well-organised. If not, it won’t take long to learn how to use it. Popman's joke about "Whats a CD" isn't very far from the truth actually. the far more expensive WAVELAB does DDP but requires the USB key thing. Wavelab elements (deosnt require the cubase ilok thingy) doesn't do DDP. Honestly I don't know which way to go here. I installed the HOFA demo yesterday, unfortunately the demo doesn't allow you to make DDP images so I can't test that. I have used wave burner for a few years and burnt tons of cds using it, and never noticed anything.Īs a lot of stuff seems to have gone over to DDP rather the PMCD disks, which I never knew existed (DDP) prior to a few days ago, I was looking into something that could create those type files, and a player so clients could play the DDP image.ĭDP as I understand it, is a file that you can create that you then upload to the Duplication/Replication house, and you never have errors because of checksums. I found a flurry of posts about how wave burner had serious issues in writing files and was writing bad disks. hence my comment about an illegal version of waveburner. I couldn't remember how to instal just it and not logic 9, and was searching about. Waveburner was only available as part of the Logic Studio DVD package which, from what you have said, you didn't buy as you bought Logic Pro 9 online via the app store. plus they have been developing play-back products as well.I had changed computers, and hadn't installed wave burner. Though if Wave-editor does deliver 100% reliable DDP then thats a great thing as everyone could realistically afford the $79. WaveBurner WaveBurner is the often overlooked CD Mastering utility that comes with Logic Studio. Without the ability to check and verify the DDP files in another app i'm not 100% confident in using the lower cost apps. Occasionally clients come back asking about DDP because the pressing plant have asked for it. most clients don't understand it and feel safer with hardware in their hand that they can check. Personally i haven't been in a rush to adopt DDP. Unless you're up for spending $600 for PMCD and the open option, then Wave editor from audiofile-engineering is the best thing at $79 The pressing plants make it very clear they except no responsibility for any errors!! I haven't tried sending a DDP from the new Waveburner in L9 yet but all previous version we're very much hit and miss and i would never risk sending a DDP to press from Waveburner. No more DDP files for me from WaveBurner. diverse and contradicting in a lot of cases - and the only way seems to go all the way until. I must say I'm afraid that you've stepped onto a field that's as officially unexplored as that of, say, DVD Audio when it comes to audio levels for DVD mastering - a field where you can (or can not) find as many 'experts' and 'expert opinions' as you'd like. Every DDP file I sent to the plant has had problems with the CD-TEXT data. Very cool, ralphiedee Greatly appreciated. I have used WaveBurner for years and recently updated to the latest version specifically for the DDP export. We recently ran a full review of the latest Photoshop The manual noise reduction tool in the Detail palette of Lightroom was usable and better than nothing, but it lagged behind what was available, so many photographers resorted to paying extra for third-party solutions. However, it was perhaps strange that two of imaging’s most iconic programs, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, were less capable when it came to dealing with noisy files. Of course, such softwares come into in their own when you need to ramp up the ISO and help you achieve acceptable results.ĭenoise is a very welcome addition to Lightroom and in this test, it showed itself a very capable tool, a notable achievement given its first generation status, so it’s only likely to get better. The thing with using a denoising and demosiacing software is that it can improve files of any ISO speed – even those at base ISO – giving crisper detail and enhancing sharpness, so it’s not just about digital noise. Given this freedom, you may be wondering – quite rightly – what is relevance of noise reduction software in today’s imaging world. Of course, sensor and signal processing technology has come on hugely and today we can shoot at ISO 3200 and beyond, knowing the files will be more than suitable for critical use. If you are of a certain age, you will remember desperately trying to avoid shooting beyond ISO 400 because of the unpleasant colour mottling, random splodges, poor saturation and banding that plagued early sensors.
